Hello Village at Marymount Family, Friends, and Staff. This is Sue Nall the Executive Director.
I’m speaking to you today with my fingers crossed – we had a good week of staff and resident testing. Because of these results, I’m hoping to reopen visitations early next week. I will keep you updated with the latest details on visitations. Watch for my phone calls and information on our website.
Our COVID update since March 2020: Villa St. Joseph has 3 Active Staff and Resident Cases. We have a total of 100 resident and staff cases. Nursing home residents and staff are scheduled to be among the first individuals to receive the COVID booster shot next month. That said, I’m being asked when the public can expect to receive the booster shot.
According to the CDC, the answer is not immediately. The goal is for people to start receiving the booster shot beginning in the fall, with individuals being eligible starting 8 months after they received their second dose of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine.
The FDA is conducting an independent evaluation to determine the safety and effectiveness of a booster dose of the. The Advisory Council on Immunization Practices will then decide whether to issue a booster dose recommendation based on a thorough review of the evidence.
I’ll continue to take this opportunity to remind all of you to practice the “three W’s” … wear a mask, wash your hands, and watch your distance.
News surrounding COVID seems to change daily. I will do my best to keep you updated as new details unfold. Here’s hoping we can see you all sometime next week.
Thank you for your continued patience. We’re doing all we can to keep your loved ones safe, happy, and healthy.
