On September 1 we had two staff members, both unvaccinated, test positive for the coronavirus. One person worked at both Marymount Place and Villa St. Joseph, while the other was only at Marymount Place. This news comes as Ohio’s COVID cases climb to almost 6,000 — the highest number we have seen since very early in the year. Consequently, we have stopped visitations in all buildings until testing of all residents and staff can be completed.
Our COVID update since March 2020: Villa St. Joseph has 1 Active Staff and Resident Cases. We have a total of 101 resident and staff cases. Memory Care Assisted Living at Villa St Joseph has no Resident or Staff cases and a cumulative total of 1 case. Marymount Place has 2 Active Resident or Staff cases — and a cumulative total of 13 resident/staff cases.
We have implemented masks for all residents in all areas regardless of vaccination status or not when they are not in their rooms. We have also reenforced physical distancing and hand sanitizing.
I can’t stress enough how important getting vaccinated is. We continue to see and hear about more severe symptoms and hospitalizations in those that are unvaccinated.
As we start to hear about booster shots for COVID. If staff would get their booster in the community, please provide us with your booster vaccination card. We need to keep track of staff members who receive the booster – whether it’s out in the community or here when we’re able to offer it.
The COVID numbers nationwide are staggering – the highest since early January 2021. With the holiday weekend approaching, PLEASE remember the “three W’s” … wear a mask, wash your hands, and watch your distance. Thank you!
