Hello Village at Marymount Family, Friends and Staff. This is Sue Nall the Executive Director.
The past two weeks I have been updating you on the coronavirus Delta variant. The variant continues to make headlines across the country.
This week, the CDC reported that this variant now makes up 83% of all sequenced cases in the U.S. By comparison, the variant made up 50% of all sequenced cases a little more than 2 weeks ago.
The variant is easily the dominant coronavirus strain in the country. It also is highly transmissible. If the Delta variant continues to move fast enough to accelerate the pandemic, some health officials believe the biggest questions will be about transmissibility: how many people will get the variant and how fast will it spread?
Still another concern is the alarming rate at which young, unvaccinated people are being hospitalized. National Public Radio reports that about 97% of all those hospitalized are unvaccinated.
I know I sound like a broken record. But the best way to prevent the spread of COVID-19 variants is to get vaccinated. Young and old. Vaccination is the most powerful tool we have in this fight.
I also ask that you continue to follow all the “3 Ws”- wear you mask, wash your hands, and watch your distance.
We continue to have no new cases in our facility. Unvaccinated staff must continue to be tested twice a week. Vaccinated staff do not need to be tested at this time.
I will continue to keep you updated on the latest information. Please continue to follow our visitation guidelines when you are in the buildings. We have these measures in place strictly to keep you and your loved ones safe and healthy. Please share the facility visiting and COVID guidelines with your family and friends since not all receive these calls or check our website before visiting.
In the meantime, stay safe and thank you for your patience with staff.
