Hello Village at Marymount Family, Friends, and Staff. This is Sue Nall Executive Director.
We were surprised by Gov. DeWine’s announcement on June 17 of removing all STATE of OHIO visitation guidelines for nursing homes and assisted living facilities. If you listened to his press conference, he referenced that facilities still need to follow CMS and CDC guidelines for healthcare facilities. The good news is that our visitation policies were built around the CMS and CDC guidance. With that being said, we are working on some changes to the visitation policy since they also had to follow state guidelines and will provide additional information in a call and on our website early next week.
Please note, this removal of restriction DOES NOT apply to those residents in quarantine. Current CMS and CDC regulations and guidance still require 14-day quarantine for those that are unvaccinated or not considered fully vaccinated. The CMS guidelines also require the continued use of masks and social distancing and only visiting with your loved one and limiting contact with both facility staff and other residents.
Our COVID update since March 2020: Villa St. Joseph has 1 Active Staff and Resident Cases. We have a total of 93 resident and staff cases. Memory Care Assisted Living at Villa St Joseph has no Resident or Staff cases and a cumulative total of 1 case. Marymount Place has no Active Resident or Staff cases — and a cumulative total of 11 resident/staff cases.
Since the CMS guidance is that you need to have one round of staff and resident testing with no new cases to reopen visitation. We did complete that late this week following our positive case earlier this week and have had no additional cases. We also spoke to the Cuyahoga County Board of Health and are able to allow for scheduled visits in all areas for residents who are NOT in quarantine.
There continue to be cases in the community for those that are not fully vaccinated. I urge you to schedule your vaccination appointment as soon as possible so that we can continue on the road to being able to reduce restriction- especially in our healthcare setting. Plus, if residents are fully vaccinated, they typically avoid any need!
We are finally seeing real progress in the fight against COVID. Have a Happy Father’s Day and good weekend. Thank you!
