Good afternoon, Village at Marymount Residents, Families, and Staff. This is Sue Nall the executive director.

We had four Villa St. Joseph staff members test positive for COVID since May 26. As a result of these positive cases, we tested all Villa St. Joseph residents on the Skilled Care and Continuing Care units. None of these staff members had contact with Memory Care Unit residents which is why these residents were not tested. All residents that were tested had negative test results.

So, what does this mean? Villa St. Joseph remains in outbreak mode. All staff must wear N95 masks and face shields when in the building. Additionally, all staff regardless of vaccination status must test weekly. Staff members with exemptions or who are not current with their vaccine status must continue to test twice a week.

Marymount Place remains in outbreak mode due to the resident case this week. We retested all Marymount Place residents, and no additional cases were identified. Marymount Place staff also must be in N95 masks and face shields.

Our COVID updatesince March 2020: Villa St. Joseph has 4 Active staff and or Resident Cases. We had a total of 191resident or staff cases. Memory Care Assisted Living at Villa St Joseph has 0 active Resident or Staff cases and a cumulative total of 14 cases. MarymountPlace has 3 Active Resident or Staff cases — and a cumulative total of 34resident/staff cases.

I know you don’t want to hear what I’m about to say, but we all must continue to practice due diligence with handwashing, social distancing, and mask-wearing. This is especially true this Memorial Day weekend. People gathering and socializing will not help us in our fight to keep COVID out of our building.

I’d like to leave you on a positive note. May is Better Speech and Hearing Month. What better time to salute two of the best speech therapists in the industry: our own Rishona Lee and Bonnie McDonald. Thank you for all you do for our residents!

Stay safe everyone … and enjoy the Memorial Day weekend responsibly.
