Hello, Village at Marymount Family, Friends, and Staff this is Sue Nall the Executive Director.
We were notified that a staff member tested positive for COVID yesterday. We conducted contact tracing and determined this person’s exposure likely came from a source outside our facility. The person has had minimal contact with residents and nothing that would constitute an exposure.
We did test some administrative staff members who could have been exposed to this person – all tested negative.
Our COVID update since March 2020: Villa St. Joseph has 1 Active staff and or Resident Cases. We had a total of 182 resident or staff cases. Memory Care Assisted Living at Villa St Joseph has 0 active Resident or Staff cases and a cumulative total of 14 cases. Marymount Place has 0 Active Resident or Staff cases — and a cumulative total of 30 resident/staff cases.
The staff remains vigilant in the fight against the pandemic. We hope that the virus and its variants are truly tapering off, as numbers indicate. Most health officials agree there are two ways for COVID to go at this point. It will either fizzle out or become like the flu and require an annual vaccine.
The big news this week comes after a federal judge in Florida struck down the Biden administration’s mask mandate for airplanes and other public transport methods. Several U.S. airlines announced that masks are now optional on their aircraft. This is an interesting development that bears watching … especially as we head into the busy travel season of Summer.
It is important to note that we are regulated by the Center of Medicare and Medicaid services and their regulations have not changed and have not been affected by this news. Masks are still required when entering our doors and you are not able to move about the building, visit other residents, eat, or attend activities or masses with residents.
Despite today’s Spring/Winter snow, we’re looking forward to warmer temperatures at the end of the week. Hopefully, we will be able to get outside, including our residents.
Have a great day!
