Hello Village at Marymount Family, Friends, and Staff. This is Sue Nall, the Executive Director.

So much for hoping the recent weather warm up would curb our COVID cases. We had two Marymount Place staff members test positive for COVID in the past three days. We tested Marymount Place residents and staff based on contact tracing this morning and thankfully had no additional cases. We will retest them on Thursday. We don’t believe there is a link with the current cases.

Our COVID update since March 2020: Villa St. Joseph has 1 Active resident and staff cases. We had a total of 288 resident or staff cases. Memory Care Assisted Living at Villa St Joseph has 0 active Resident and Staff cases and a cumulative total of 23 cases. Marymount Place has 2 Active Resident or Staff cases and a cumulative total of 69 resident/staff cases.

At this time staff in all areas of the facility, including Marymount Place, will continue to wear surgical masks only.

This morning the Food and Drug Administration announced it is authorizing the second dose of the updated COVID booster for older adults and people with weakened immune systems. This means people ages 65 and up can get a second dose of Pfizer’s and Moderna’s updated COVID booster at least four months after their last dose.

The FDA also authorized using the bivalent formula in all COVID vaccines moving forward. The FDA is doing away with the multi-dose primary series for people who haven’t been vaccinated. That means people who haven’t been vaccinated would get a single dose of the updated vaccine.

If you haven’t updated your COVID vaccine or booster status, then I encourage you to do so. You may not notice COVID where you work, or when you are among family and friends, but it continues to exist in the community.

Wash your hands, wear a mask when necessary, and watch your distance in social settings. Doing so will protect you from COVID.
