Hello Village at Marymount Family, Friends, and Staff. This is Sue Nall the Executive Director.

Today we had a CCU staff member test positive for COVID, as did a resident in the Memory Care Unit. We continue to contact trace sources in the community who may have brought COVID into the building. We cannot seem to link together any of the staff or resident cases, which is making contact tracing a little more challenging.

Our COVID update since March 2020: Villa St. Joseph has 6 Active resident and staff Cases. We had a total of 276 resident or staff cases. Memory Care Assisted Living at Villa St Joseph has 0 active Resident and Staff cases and a cumulative total of 23 cases. Marymount Place has 1 Active Resident or Staff cases and a cumulative total of 63 resident/staff cases.

We will continue testing residents and staff according to protocols. Given the recent COVID-positive cases at Marymount Place, we are requiring all staff to wear a surgical mask and face shield. MCU staff will be required to wear an N95 mask and face shield until further notice. Full PPE is required for staff and visitors working with or visiting a COVID positive resident. This means gowns, N95 mask, and face shield.

The good news is that our infectious disease specialist says there are no new COVID strains being reported. The recent outbreak may be attributed to COVID finally reaching those who have not yet had the virus. We continue to administer Paxlovid, which is an oral antiviral pill used to treat COVID, to those with the virus. We are not seeing anyone become seriously ill from the current outbreak, which also is good news.

These recent cases only confirm that COVID remains a threat in the community. Hopefully once the weather warms up, and we can enjoy more outside activities, we will see a measurable decline in the number of cases.

Continue to practice the 3Ws … wash your hands, wear a mask, and watch your distance in social settings. Stay safe everyone!
