Good evening, Village at Marymount Family, Friends, and Staff. This is Sue Nall the Executive Director.
We had 1 additional COVID positive case today at Villa St. Joseph. We had 2 cases yesterday at VSJ.
Our COVID update since March 2020: Villa St. Joseph has 38 Active Staff and Resident Cases. We have a total of 155 resident and staff cases. Memory Care Assisted Living at Villa St Joseph has 7 active Resident or Staff cases and a cumulative total of 9 cases. Marymount Place has 6 Active Resident or Staff cases — and a cumulative total of 29 resident/staff cases.
You may have heard reports about something called “flurona” … a combination of symptoms like the flu and coronavirus. Several cases were reported in the U.S. this week. Symptoms include fever, cough, fatigue, runny nose, sore throat, and body aches.
The flu and COVID are respiratory viruses transmitted via droplets and aerosols spread by coughing, sneezing, talking, singing, and breathing. I’ll keep you posted on this.
Regarding visitations at VSJ: We ask only two people visit per day. We do not want visitors coming and going into the building. Once here, please stay for the duration of your visit. We are discouraging residents from leaving the facility for visits. See my updates on our website for info regarding visits.
We are having Masses said 6 days a week. Marymount Place residents can attend and VSJ residents are encouraged to watch on TV in their room.
I’d like to applaud our award-winning staff. They continue to be challenged by the pandemic. A Shout Out to housekeeper Linda Blackwell, our 2021 Franciscan Spirit Award Winner of the Year. Linda is a long-term staff member and a worthy recipient of this award. Today, nurse Kathy Zielinski celebrates her 28th anniversary with us. Congratulations Kathy!
I urge you to continue the Three W’s: wear a mask, wash your hands, and watch your distance. These steps are proven to work in defense of COVID and its variants. Thank you!
