You may be hearing the term “long COVID”. Although most people with COVID seem to recover within weeks of acquiring the virus, some people experience post-COVID conditions. Post-COVID conditions include a variety of new, returning, or ongoing health problems. People can experience these problems four or more weeks after being infected with the COVID virus.

People with no previous COVID symptoms in the days or weeks after they were infected can have post-COVID conditions. These conditions can present as different types and combinations of health problems for different lengths of time.

The CDC and global health experts are working to learn more about short- and long-term health effects associated with COVID, who gets them, and why.

The Ohio Health Department this week emphasized the tidal wave caused by Omicron. The number of COVID cases in Ohio is unlike anything we experienced earlier in the pandemic.

During the past three weeks, Ohio is averaging more than 17,000 new COVID cases per day. This number of cases is the highest during a 21-day average at any time in the pandemic.

Please continue to practice the Three W’s … wear a mask, wash your hands, and watch your distance. Get the vaccine and booster to greatly minimize the effects should you get COVID. Thank you and stay safe.
