Hello Village at Marymount Family, Friends, and Staff. This is Sue Nall the Executive Director.
The news is good today! We tested Marymount Place and SCU residents and staff and had no new COVID cases. We continue to work hard to keep residents and staff as safe as possible amid a slight resurgence in COVID.
Our COVID update since March 2020: Villa St. Joseph has 10 Active resident and staff Cases. We had a total of 265 resident or staff cases. Memory Care Assisted Living at Villa St Joseph has 0 active Resident and Staff cases and a cumulative total of 22 cases. Marymount Place has 2 Active Resident or Staff cases and a cumulative total of 62 resident/staff cases.
You may be hearing about a new COVID variant, XBB, which is becoming a dominant strain nationwide. At this point we still don’t know too much about this strain. Our infectious disease control physician told us Marymount Hospital currently has about 10 COVID cases and just a few in ICU.
He also told us that from the data available the new variant isn’t in Ohio at this time. Because XBB is part of the omicron family, it is believed current vaccines will offer substantial protection against a mild or moderate infection developing into severe illness. I’ll keep you updated as further details emerge.
We remain in outbreak testing for Marymount Place and Villa St. Joseph. Marymount Place and Villa St. Joseph first floor residents and staff must test every 3 to 7 days, until 14 days have passed with no positive cases.
Marymount Place and first floor SCU staff must continue to wear N95 masks and face shields. All VSJ staff outside of SCU must be in eyewear and a surgical mask. Eyewear is required in other areas due to Cuyahoga County still being in red for transmission.
We want residents at Marymount Place and Villa St. Joseph’s SCU to continue wearing masks outside of their room. A reminder to visitors: if you or a family member are not feeling well, then we ask that you refrain from visiting.
