Hello Village at Marymount Family, Friends, and Staff. This is Sue Nall the Executive Director.
After my call on Sunday afternoon, we had a Marymount Place person test positive for COVID. Per our protocols, today we tested those Marymount Place residents and staff who may have had contact with this person. We did not have any new cases. We will continue to monitor residents and staff in that part of the building, and test again in 48 hours.
This morning we had a resident on the Memory Care Unit test positive for COVID. Tomorrow we will test residents and staff who may have had contact with this person.
Our COVID update since March 2020: Villa St. Joseph has 4 Active resident and staff Cases. We had a total of 274 resident or staff cases. Memory Care Assisted Living at Villa St Joseph has 0 active Resident and Staff cases and a cumulative total of 23 cases. Marymount Place has 1 Active Resident or Staff cases and a cumulative total of 63 resident/staff cases.
This latest outbreak is somewhat puzzling given that our infectious disease specialist said the number of COVID cases at Marymount Hospital remains relatively low. And none of our current cases seemed to be linked to inhouse sources or each other.
Staff must be in surgical mask. All MCU staff must wear an N95 mask and face shield until contact tracing and initial testing can be completed. Full PPE is required for staff and visitors working with or visiting a COVID positive resident – this means gowns, N95, and face shield.
As I mentioned on Sunday, our healthcare guidelines require that if you are a family member or friend, and COVID positive, you cannot visit for 14 days.
Hopefully once the weather warms up … and we can all get outside again … we’ll start to see a decline in COVID cases. Until then, please remember to practice the 3Ws – wash or sanitize your hands, wear a mask, and watch your distance in social settings. Stay safe everyone!
