Good afternoon, Village at Marymount Family, Friends, and Staff. This is Sue Nall the Executive Director.
We had two new COVID-positive resident cases on the Skilled Care Unit of Villa St. Joseph. We tested all SCU residents and staff today and had no other positive cases. Any staff member who has provided care on SCU must be tested again on Friday.
Our COVID update since March 2020: Villa St. Joseph has 6 Active staff and or Resident Cases. We had a total of 245 resident or staff cases. Memory Care Assisted Living at Villa St Joseph has 0 active Resident or Staff cases and a cumulative total of 20 cases. Marymount Place has 1 Active Resident or Staff cases and a cumulative total of 51 resident/staff cases.
SCU residents must wear a mask if they are outside of their room. All staff must wear an N95 mask and face shield. We will continue to monitor all staff and residents for signs and symptoms of COVID per our regular protocols.
I’ve been asked what type of symptoms people are experiencing with COVID. It depends on the age of the COVID sufferer. People who are older have a higher risk of serious illness from COVID. The risk increases with age.
Some people may experience worsened symptoms, such as worsened shortness of breath and pneumonia, about a week after symptoms start. People who have existing medical conditions also may have a higher risk of serious illness. Younger sufferers primarily are experiencing cold-like symptoms.
Families will be gathering with more frequency from now until the end of the year. If you have any cold-, flu-, or COVID-like symptoms, or know you have been exposed to COVID, then we ask that you not visit at this time.
Please remember the Three W’s: Wash and sanitize hands, wear a mask, and watch your distance when in large groups. Thank you … and stay safe everyone.
