Good afternoon, Village at Marymount Family, Friends, and Staff. This is Sue Nall the Executive Director.
We were notified on February 26 that a staff member tested positive for COVID after working on February 23. This individual was only in the building that day. We tested all first-floor residents and staff on that unit, as well as anyone that worked with this person.
Our COVID update since March 2020: Villa St. Joseph has 2 Active staff and or Resident Cases. We had a total of 181 resident or staff cases. Memory Care Assisted Living at Villa St Joseph has 0 active Resident or Staff cases and a cumulative total of 14 cases. Marymount Place has 0 Active Resident or Staff cases — and a cumulative total of 30 resident/staff cases.
All staff on the Skilled Care Unit now must wear N95 masks and face shields while on the unit, even if they are in hallways, common areas, and at the nursing station. Vaccination status does not change what staff need to wear right now on that unit. All staff with exemptions must be wearing N95 masks and face shields – wherever they may be working in the building. Staff in the rest of the building can wear surgical masks and googles or face shields. If you have any questions regarding PPE usage, then please see your supervisor or the nursing supervisor.
The CDC has issued new testing protocols for residents who are out of the building for more than 24 hours or are a new or readmission to the building. These residents will be tested on day of admission either at the hospital or with us and then again between days 5 and 7. The CDC noted that if a resident is not up to date with their vaccine, meaning they have not received a booster and it’s been 5 months since their second vaccine dose, then they must quarantine upon being admitted or readmitted. We have been in contact with our long-term families and residents and about everyone is now up to date.
One last reminder for staff: the deadline for the second dose of your vaccine if you were hired any time prior to mid-January, is February 28. If you have not completed the second dose by this date, then you will not be able to work. Please turn in your vaccine cards when you get your second dose or booster.
