Hello Village at Marymount Family, Friends, and Staff. This is Sue Nall the Executive Director.
Yesterday’s testing also produced a positive case. This person does have some contact with Marymount Place residents. This person counts in both Marymount Place and Villa St. Joseph numbers since they also work in the main kitchen. Today’s testing yielded another positive case at Marymount Place.
Our COVID update since March 2020: Villa St. Joseph has 1 Active Staff and Resident Cases. We have a total of 113 resident and staff cases. Memory Care Assisted Living at Villa St Joseph has 0 Resident or Staff cases and a cumulative total of 2 cases. Marymount Place has 2 Active Resident or Staff cases — and a cumulative total of 18 resident/staff cases.
We remain in outbreak mode. Marymount Place and dietary staff who are vaccinated must test once per week. All campus unvaccinated staff must test twice weekly. Remember, you’re not fully vaccinated until two weeks after your last dose.
Ohio’s COVID cases continue to climb. Sunday’s numbers were close to 7,400. COVID also is impacting several local high schools, two of which have closed early or gone to virtual classes for the holiday break. Two cases of the Omicron variant were reported in the Columbus area.
As the world learns more about the Omicron variant the need for booster shots becomes clearer than ever — even beyond the growing data about waning vaccine immunity. I urge you to get the booster shot if you are eligible to do so. Those ending up in the hospital tend be those that are unvaccinated or those who have not gotten their booster dose.
A reminder that due to CMS guidelines regarding social distancing, we will hold only small group activities for residents. At this time families can not participate in activities or attend mass due to the guidelines. Our residents are getting into the holiday spirit with crafts, games, and trivia. The Activities Department provides one-on-one room visits, contests, snack carts, and more to keep the atmosphere festive for residents.
Now, I don’t want to sound like the Grinch … but I must continue to remind you of the importance of the “Three W’s” – wash your hands, watch your distance, and wear a mask. Especially when gathering with family and friends this holiday season. Thanks everyone!
