Hello Village at Marymount Family, Friends, and Staff. This is Sue Nall the Executive Director.

We need to inform you of a new positive case, one Villa St Joseph, and a new positive case at Marymount Place.  Both have had no symptoms are vaccinated – the vaccine is doing what it is supposed to for them and protecting them!  We don’t believe either case was related to our previous cases at this time.  We will be monitoring any staff and residents who may have had contact with either person carefully.

Our COVID update since March 2020: Villa St. Joseph has 4 Active Staff and Resident Cases. We have a total of 105 resident and staff cases.  Memory Care Assisted Living at Villa St Joseph has no Resident or Staff cases and a cumulative total of 1 case. Marymount Place has 3 Active Resident or Staff cases — and a cumulative total of 14 resident/staff cases.

Reported COIVD numbers over the weekend were around 8000 Saturday and 4000 for Sunday.  That Sunday number is often low due to it being a weekend.  We will see what numbers early this week show.  The news reports did say that hospitalizations are continuing to climb.  Why do we monitor hospitalization rates?  Hospitals have limited capacity and ICU beds along with having staffing challenges just like the whole healthcare industry.  If hospitals are at capacity those needing care for other healthcare reasons- stroke, heart attack, even appendicitis may have a delay in the care they receive. Not to mention that as healthcare worker, we all want to be able to spend enough time giving care we are proud of and if our coworkers are out with covid and we are at capacity or even beyond that may mean it’s next to impossible to do.

We will be doing resident and staff testing again on Monday.  Unvaccinated staff will also test again on Tuesday.

Please follow PPE requirements at Villa St. Joseph. Signs are posted on each floor that indicate what PPE should be worn when in patient rooms and when in common areas.  All staff working or needing to go to Marymount Place must wear a surgical mask and face shield.

Stay safe while cheering on our Browns this season!
