Hello Village at Marymount Family and Friends. This is Sue Nall the Executive Director.
The surge in COVID cases continues nationwide — and right here in our backyard. Try as we might to keep the virus out of our buildings, we had another unvaccinated staff member test positive yesterday.
Our COVID update since March 2020: Villa St. Joseph has 4 Active Staff and Resident Cases. We have a total of 97 resident and staff cases. Memory Care Assisted Living at Villa St Joseph has no Resident or Staff cases and a cumulative total of 1 case. Marymount Place has no Active Resident or Staff cases — and a cumulative total of 11 resident/staff cases.
Visitations are closed at Villa St. Joseph for a minimum of 14 days — or until we’re out of outbreak mode. We are diligently monitoring all residents and staff during the next week or so. All vaccinated staff must be tested weekly. Unvaccinated staff must be tested twice weekly.
Remember, we are not making decisions independently. Decisions are made with direction from the County Health Board … and following CMS guidelines.
The news surrounding COVID is not good. Nationwide, hospitals are seeing more COVID-related admissions in the last month among children 17 and younger. With school starting, this is a growing concern. We’re also approaching cold and flu season.
So how do you know if your symptoms are COVID or a cold? The best way to know for certain is to get a COVID test through your physician. In the meantime, please be vigilant with hand washing, social distancing, and wear a mask.
Finally, it’s with a heavy heart that I let you know Father Ted Haag, our staff chaplain for the past seven years, has decided it is time for him to conclude his ministry at The Village at Marymount. We wish Father Ted the very best as he begins a new chapter in his life.
Stay safe everyone. Thank you!
