Hello Village at Marymount Family and Friends. This is Sue Nall the Executive Director.
With the dog days of summer approaching, it looks like the coronavirus is going to dog us a little while longer. On August 9, we had a fully vaccinated person test COVID positive during routine testing. Thankfully the person is asymptomatic. We will monitor all residents and staff very carefully during the next week.
We spoke with the County Board of Health to provide us with direction. Contact tracing is showing this person most likely did not have contact with the other two recent cases.
Because of the August 9 positive result, we will continue to keep all visitation at Villa St. Joseph closed for a minimum of 14 days or until we are out of outbreak mode. Please watch for my call updates and watch our website to view the content of my call scripts. Also, this is not a decision we are making independently. Decisions are made in conjunction with the County Board of Health and following CMS guidelines.
I know what you’re thinking: why should I get the vaccine when some fully vaccinated people can contract COVID? First, the vaccine will minimize the severity of COVID should you contract the virus. Like in this most recent case where the person has no symptoms. Second, receiving the vaccine is the only way to ultimately defeat COVID and its variants. The vaccine remains highly effective in combatting all current variants.
Our COVID update since March 2020: Villa St. Joseph has 3 Active Staff and Resident Cases. We have a total of 96 resident and staff cases. Memory Care Assisted Living at Villa St Joseph has no Resident or Staff cases and a cumulative total of 1 case. Marymount Place has no Active Resident or Staff cases — and a cumulative total of 11 resident/staff cases.
Please remain diligent with hand washing, social distancing, and wear a mask. Thank you!
