Hello Village at Marymount Family, Friends, and Staff. This is Sue Nall the Executive Director.

COVID continues to challenge our resolve, making many of us feel like we are running in a hamster wheel: we’re not moving forward despite running like crazy. We had a positive case at Marymount Place staff, at this point we haven’t identified the cause but don’t feel it was exposure from any of our other cases. We also had a positive case at Villa St Joseph. This staff person hasn’t worked in almost two weeks and exposure was from a family member.

Our COVID update since March 2020: Villa St. Joseph has 4 Active Staff and Resident Cases. We have a total of 106 resident and staff cases.  Memory Care Assisted Living at Villa St Joseph has no Resident or Staff cases and a cumulative total of 1 case. Marymount Place has 4 Active Resident or Staff cases — and a cumulative total of 15 resident/staff cases.

Because of the additional case at Marymount Place, and after talking to our contact at Cuyahoga County Board of Health, we will be putting a hold on visitation at Marymount Place until another round of testing for residents can be completed later this week. We will do a call either later Thursday or early Friday will more information.

We also got word that CMS is changing some of the guidance related to what is looked at in the county in relation to visitation. I will be reviewing this new document and will share more insight later this week. This guidance will affect Villa St Joseph.

There is some good news on the horizon. Florida, which is just ahead of Ohio and has the highest number of cases nationwide, reports its hospitals continue to report fewer COVID hospitalizations and ICU patients. So, there may be a slowing of the Delta variant spread.

I’ve received many questions from staff and residents about the booster vaccine. There is nothing new to report, but as soon as I have an update and we put a plan together, I will convey it to all of you.

A reminder to staff: we will continue with outbreak testing. Vaccinated staff must be tested once a week while unvaccinated staff are required to test twice a week.

Please have a good week.  Thank You.
