Hello, Village at Marymount Family, Friends, and Staff this is Sue Nall the Executive Director.

We were notified that a staff member tested positive for COVID after working a shift on March 12. This person initially tested negative and then the next day reported to us they were positive.

Our COVID update since March 2020: Villa St. Joseph has 1 Active staff and or Resident Cases. We had a total of 181 resident or staff cases. Memory Care Assisted Living at Villa St Joseph has 0 active Resident or Staff cases and a cumulative total of 14 cases. Marymount Place has 0 Active Resident or Staff cases — and a cumulative total of 30 resident/staff cases.

The staff remains vigilant in the fight against the pandemic. We hope that the virus and its variants are truly tapering off, as numbers indicate. Most health officials agree there are two ways for COVID to go at this point. It will either fizzle out or become like the flu and require an annual vaccine.

We had bittersweet news last week as we heard of the passing of long-time Marymount Place resident Sister Dominica Fick. If you check out our Facebook page, you will see pictures showing Sister Dominica’s creative Halloween costumes. She always loved dressing up for Halloween and enjoyed the annual costume party, as she won several times. We will truly miss her.

We also have great news- we celebrated Dorothy Mahnke, our night nursing supervisor, who was named the February 2022 Franciscan Spirit Award winner. Dorothy truly embodies our core mission of Compassion, Competence, and the Celebration of Life. Congratulations Dorothy!

Hopefully, this week of warmer temperatures will signal an end to winter. We all could use sunnier skies and spring-like temperatures. I am sure we are all anxious to get outside and experience better weather. Thank you and have a great week.
